Toegang tot de dieren op deze vrachtwagens is bijna onmogelijk &#8211; de enige manier om binnen te komen is via de achterkant, wat in werkelijkheid geen toegang betekent. Geen enkele vrachtwagenchauffeur zal op zijn knie\u00ebn door een verdieping van 80 varkens of zogende kalveren of schapen kruipen, of door een lading grote volwassen runderen lopen om een dier dat in moeilijkheden is te bereiken. Niet alleen ontbreken toegangsdeuren aan de zijkant van deze trailers, maar steeds meer van de nieuwe trailers zijn aan de zijkant volledig gesloten met kunstmatige ventilatie aan de binnenkant, zonder de mogelijkheid om de dieren binnenin te zien. Sommige hebben kleine deuren om enigszins naar binnen te kunnen kijken, maar ze zijn klein en onmogelijk om doorheen te komen. Als een dier binnen moet bevallen, uitgedroogd is en handmatig moet worden gedrenkt, ernstig gewond is en direct moet worden behandeld of humaan moet worden afgemaakt, vertrapt wordt, ernstige hittestress heeft, enz\u2026.kan de chauffeur niet direct actie ondernemen om het dier te helpen. Hij moet een stal vinden waar hij eerst de dieren uit zijn vrachtwagen mag lossen en dit kan uren en zelfs langer duren.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ondertussen is in Duitsland onlangs een Nederlands veetransportbedrijf aangehouden en beboet omdat hij geen toegangsdeuren op zijn vrachtwagen had. Toegang tot de dieren is een wettelijke vereiste in de Europese wetgeving inzake diervervoer en zou eigenlijk door alle lidstaten moeten worden gehandhaafd. We hebben deze kwestie meer dan 10 jaar geleden bij de Nederlandse autoriteiten aangekaart, en zijn dan ook zeer teleurgesteld dat we blijven constateren, maar ook horen van fabrikanten van veetrailers en veetransportbedrijven zelf, dat de Nederlandse autoriteiten dierentrucks tolereren die totaal onvoldoende toegang hebben. We feliciteren de Duitse autoriteiten met de handhaving hiervan en zullen de Nederlandse autoriteiten nogmaals aansporen eindelijk hetzelfde te doen.
