In 2021 maakten we de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eyesonanimals.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/20210616_Update_hittestressrapport_pv.pdf\">stand van zaken op<\/a>. Conclusie: hoewel de sector niet heeft stilgestaan, is de kern van het probleem &#8211; namelijk het tekort aan losplekken en wachtruimte bij slachterijen &#8211; nog steeds niet opgelost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Iedere zomer weer ziet Eyes on Animals tientallen veewagens bij slachterijen staan. De chauffeurs moeten wachten totdat er plek is om hun dieren te lossen. Maar in stilstaande veewagens wordt het razend snel heet en vochtig. Er is geen rijwind, geen actieve koeling en geen water. De dieren zitten dicht tegen elkaar aan en kunnen geen kant. Soms staan de wagens bovendien pal in de zon. Het gevolg: ernstige hittestress en sterfte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hoewel de wachtvoorzieningen op advies van Eyes on Animals zijn verbeterd, zijn de wachttijden onverminderd lang gebleven. Hierdoor lijden er nog steeds honderdduizenden dieren onder hittestress.
