Hoewel slachterijen verschillende maatregelen hebben getroffen om hittestress te verminderen, zoals mobiele ventilatoren in de wachtstal en het vervroegen van de slachttijden, was dit onvoldoende om de kippen te beschermen tegen de extreme hitte. Bij al deze slachterijen nam Eyes on Animals (ernstige) hittestress waar, soms sterfte tot gevolg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eyes on Animals is van mening dat het huidige hitteprotocol van de pluimveesector tekortschiet. Naar haar mening zijn strengere en minder vrijblijvende maatregelen nodig om de kippen te beschermen, zoals een transportverbod bij temperaturen boven de 30 graden en een tropenrooster om ervoor te zorgen dat pluimvee alleen in de koele uren van de dag wordt gevangen en vervoerd. Ook zou er beleid moeten komen aangaande de maximale wachttijd, de kwaliteit en kwantiteit van de ventilatoren en de opstelling van de containers en kratten in de wachtstal (maximale hoogte van- en minimale ruimtes tussen de stapels). &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eyes on Animals is in gesprek met de bezochte slachterijen om hittestress op hun bedrijf te verminderen.
