Today we hosted a visit at the slaughterhouse where, together with the slaughterhouse team and Dr. Temple Grandin, we developed an improved new automatic electric stunning system – to show that there are practical alternatives to the more painful CO\u2082 gas stunning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We started this work because inhaling CO\u2082 causes distress and suffering, while we saw that there was still a lot of untapped potential in automatic electric stunning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This time, a large pork company from a neighbouring European country came to see the system, together with an authoritiy and scientist. We\u2019re keeping the details confidential for now, as discussions are still ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But it\u2019s encouraging to see growing interest from the industry and authorities in moving away from CO\u2082 and exploring more humane alternatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
