Das Team von WACPAW\/EonA besuchte erneut den Schlachthof von Kumasi. Der Schlachthof von Kumasi ist ein sehr gro\u00dfer Schlachthof f\u00fcr Rinder, Schweine und Ziegen in Ghana. Leider gibt es dort immer noch gravierende Tierschutzprobleme. Vor einigen Jahren haben wir dort die Angestellten darin geschult, wie man Bolzenschussger\u00e4te einsetzt. Wir haben auch die Bet\u00e4ubung der Schweine durchgesetzt, die fr\u00fcher durch wiederholte Schl\u00e4ge auf den Sch\u00e4del get\u00f6tet wurden. Aber immer noch werden dort die Downer-K\u00fche herumgezerrt, die Treibg\u00e4nge und Stallungen sind marode, die Tiere werden \u00fcber die Gatter geworfen, es gibt kein oder nur unzureichendes Wasser f\u00fcr die Tiere, obwohl sie von weit her kommen, den Rindern werden die H\u00e4lse verdreht und ihnen wird bei vollem Bewusstsein mit stumpfen Messern die Kehle aufgeschlitzt. \u2026\u2026 Aber heute wurden wir von USAID-Freiwilligen begleitet. Sie untersuchten wichtige Problembereiche, wie z. B. Entladestellen, Stallungen und Gatter, Treibg\u00e4nge und R\u00fcckhaltetechniken. Trotz unserer Bem\u00fchungen bereiten uns die fehlenden Betriebsstandards und die Vernachl\u00e4ssigung der Sicherheit von Mensch und Tier besondere Sorgen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die USAID-Freiwilligen best\u00e4rkten das Schlachthofpersonal darin, mehr f\u00fcr den Tierschutz zu tun. Sie lobten die Bem\u00fchungen von WACPAW\/EonA, das Leiden der Tiere beim Transport und bei der Schlachtung in Ghana zu verringern. Wer wei\u00df, vielleicht f\u00fchrt ihr Besuch dazu, dass USAID in Zukunft finanzielle oder praktische Hilfe leisten m\u00f6chte, nachdem sie gesehen haben, mit welchen Herausforderungen wir vor Ort konfrontiert sind und wie furchtbar traurig und gef\u00e4hrlich es f\u00fcr Tiere und Arbeiter ist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Das WACPAW\/EonA-Team dankt den USAID-Freiwilligen Victoria, Austin und Mariah sowie der Leitung des Schlachthofs von Kumasi f\u00fcr ihre Zusammenarbeit und ihr Engagement zur Verringerung des Tierleidens in Ghana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
