Eine der schrecklichsten Dinge, mit denen die Teams von WACPAW (lokale NRO in Ghana, mit der wir zusammenarbeiten) und EonA w\u00e4hrend unserer Arbeit in Ghana konfrontiert werden, ist der Umgang mit Downer-K\u00fchen. Vor allem in Schlachth\u00f6fen in den muslimischen Regionen, in denen die Bet\u00e4ubung noch nicht akzeptiert wird. Die Tiere werden bei vollem Bewusstsein ins Schlachthaus geschleppt, manchmal sogar mit Seilen um den Hals. Wir k\u00f6nnen uns dar\u00fcber emp\u00f6ren oder dagegen protestieren \u2026 aber das wird den Tieren nicht wirklich helfen. Das Beste, was wir tun k\u00f6nnen, ist, dieses Problem mit den Verantwortlichen zu besprechen und schnelle praktische Hilfe zu leisten, damit das Leiden verringert wird. WACPAW und EonA haben zusammen mit den Managern des Schlachthofs von Tamale mehrere Transportwagen bauen lassen. Seit letzter Woche werden die Downer-K\u00fche nicht mehr an den H\u00e4lsen \u00fcber die Rampe in den Schlachthof gezerrt, sondern auf einen Wagen geladen und in die Schlachthalle gerollt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inzwischen wissen auch die Manager des Schlachthofs in Tamale, dass wir bereit sind, ihnen Bet\u00e4ubungsger\u00e4te zur Verf\u00fcgung zu stellen und den Schlachtern den Umgang damit beibringen wollen, aber es wird noch etwas dauern, bis sie davon \u00fcberzeugt sind, dass die Bet\u00e4ubung halal ist. Aber wir werden nicht aufgeben, und WACPAW und EonA werden weiterhin vor Ort aktiv sein, um zu versuchen, schnellstm\u00f6glich L\u00f6sungen zu finden, die weniger grausam sind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
