In diesem Schlachthaus werden t\u00e4glich 240.000 Masth\u00e4hnchen geschlachtet. Dazu geh\u00f6ren auch Masth\u00e4hnchen, die unter dem G\u00fctesiegel \u201eBetter Life star Label\u201c aufgezogen wurden, sowie \u201eGildehoen\u201c-Masth\u00e4hnchen, die ohne Gebrauch von Antibiotika aufgewachsen sind.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Bei ESBRO werden die H\u00e4hnchen mit einem STORK Gasbet\u00e4ubingssystem bet\u00e4ubt. Die Tiere werden in Containern angeliefert. Die Container werden automatisch gekippt, um die Masth\u00e4hnchen auf ein F\u00f6rderband zu sch\u00fctten. Hier leitet man die Tiere dann durch einen Tunnel, wo sie mit ansteigender CO2 Konzentration bet\u00e4ubt werden.<\/p>\n<p>ESBRO hatte uns informiert, dass sie gerne auf ein moderneres Gasbet\u00e4ubungssystem umstellen m\u00f6chten, bei dem die Masth\u00e4hnchen nicht gekippt und ausgesch\u00fcttet werden m\u00fcssen, w\u00e4hrend sie noch am Leben sind. Obwohl ESBRO einige Ver\u00e4nderungen an der Kippstation vornahm, um den Ablauf glatter zu machen, blieb dies ein stressiger Vorgang f\u00fcr die Tiere. Mit dem neuen Gastbet\u00e4ubungssystem k\u00f6nnen die Tiere in den Containern bleiben, w\u00e4hrend sie bet\u00e4ubt werden. Damit ist es nicht l\u00e4nger notwendig, sie zu kippen und auf das F\u00f6rderband auszusch\u00fctten. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Wir gaben ESBRO eine Anleitung zur Verbesserung des Schlachtprozesses. Dazu geh\u00f6rt, den L\u00e4rm im Wartebereich zu reduzieren, um den Stress der V\u00f6gel zu verringern, sowie ein Verfahren zu entwickeln f\u00fcr den Fall, dass sie nicht v\u00f6llig bet\u00e4ubt sind. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Wir waren beeindruckt von etlichen Ma\u00dfnahmen, die ESBRO ergriff, um Hitzestress bei den Masth\u00e4hnchen zu begrenzen. Zum Beispiel verwenden sie, wenn es hei\u00df ist, spezielle Fahrzeuge mit gro\u00dfen, beweglichen Ventilatoren an Bord. Die \u201eVentilatoren-LKWs\u201c werden direkt neben den Gefl\u00fcgeltransportern aufgestellt, um eine gute Luftzirkulation zu gew\u00e4hrleisten. Diese sind auch mit einer Art Sonnenschutz ausgestattet, der Schatten f\u00fcr die daneben stehenden Gefl\u00fcgeltransporter spendet. Au\u00dferdem bew\u00e4ssert man den Boden, auf dem die Transporter stehen, was auch einen K\u00fchlungseffekt ergibt. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Weiterhin wurden gro\u00dfe Ventilatoren im Wartebereich installiert, die helfen, die V\u00f6gel zu k\u00fchlen. Denn Hitzestress ist immer noch die \u00fcberwiegende Todesursache f\u00fcr Gefl\u00fcgel in Containern \u2013 diese bei ESBRO ergriffenen Ma\u00dfnahmen sind positive Schritte im Hinblick auf das Tierwohl bei Masth\u00e4hnchen.
