March 12, 2010

For the past 2 days, an Eyes on Animals team has discreetly observed several slaughterhouses to a) check if the European animal slaughter legislation is being respected and b) to check if conditions are acceptable when no one is officially watching. The slaughterhouse owner explained that they came from only 20-30km … [Read more...] about Inspection of culled-dairy cattle awaiting slaughter at a small Dutch slaughterhouse

When the amper and voltage are set high enough to guarantee that the birds lose consciousness before being slaughtered, their "carcasses" lose value due to the many blood spots caused by the shock. Therefore, most birds are purposely not … [Read more...] about Tour of a Belgian chicken slaughterhouse that uses gas instead of electricity to stun the birds

Our most recent newsletter

Dear friends,

It’s not every day that an animal-welfare organization takes on the challenge of redesigning a large pig slaughterhouse and their animal handling techniques, but that’s exactly what we did in 2020.
