Inspection of a “slaughter” horse market in Belgium

February 26, 2009

Eyes on Animals inspectors inspected a private weekly livestock market near Brugge in Belgium. Today 78 "slaughter" horses were for sale. Male pigs are not allowed to be castrated, and sows are kept in group housing during most of the gestation period and given straw.
